Ish Sparks Suns to Rout Over Spurs
Goran Dragic scored just eight points. The Suns shot just 5-of-25 from three-point range.
They also beat the Spurs by 21.
Phoenix was at its odds-defying best Friday night against their conference rivals, pulling away early and keep their foot on the peddle just two days after Head Coach Jeff Hornacek said he wanted to see "some killer instinct" from his team.
It doesn't get much more "killer" than a 106-85 win over San Antonio, the team with the third-best record in the league.
"I think we just kept the intensity going," Markieff Morris said. "A lot of the games, they slowed us down where we weren't able to play our fast-paced game. Tonight I think we kept the tempo. We pushed against the defense and we got a great win."
Morris and the bench had the biggest say in it, accounting for 60 of the Suns' 106 points. Markieff scored a game-high 21 points in just 25 minutes. Marcus added 13 points and Ish Smith was once again an energizing force with 15 points, seven rebounds, four assists, two steals and two blocks.
Rookie Archie Goodwin was also effective in the second half, finishing with nine points, three rebounds and a block in 13 minutes of play.
San Antonio had muddied up the first quarter, holding the Suns to just 38 percent shooting and 19 points in the period.
Ish Smith again jolted Phoenix to life, spearheading a 19-0 run in which he logged six points, three rebounds, an assist and two steals.
Phoenix never trailed again.
"The game was maybe at their pace," Hornacek said. "[Ish] got the tempo going, really pushed the ball, got our guys in that running mode. He just did a great job."

PLAYER OF THE GAME
Ish Smith's second quarter alone would have put him in the running for this, both for the numbers and the impact: 10 points, five rebounds, three assists, two steals, one block and the momentum firmly in the Suns' favor.
