Phoenix Suns Charities Director to Receive 'Mom of the Year' Recognition

PHOENIX – Phoenix Suns Charities Executive Director, Robin Milne, has been named a 2014 “Mom of the Year” by local non-profit Valle del Sol. Milne, along with three Valley women, will be honored during a breakfast event tomorrow (May 9) at the Hyatt Regency in downtown Phoenix. The event will begin at 8:15 a.m.

“I am honored and humbled to be one of the recipients for this year’s Valle del Sol ‘Mom of the Year’ award,” said Milne. “I am grateful to the Suns organization for the privilege of being able to continue the work of serving children and their families through Suns Charities. Every day brings a new smile in the life of a child.”

Milne, mother of two sons, has served as the Executive Director for Phoenix Suns Charities since 2012. Prior to her role with the Suns, she served on numerous boards and held significant fundraising and leadership roles for organizations such as the Arizona Science Center, Heard Museum, the American Heart Association’s Heart Ball and many more. In addition, Milne is a founder and long-time member of ASU’s Women & Philanthropy and co-founder of the Leadership Circle for Phoenix Children’s Hospital.

Valle del Sol’s “Mom of the Year” honors women of diverse backgrounds for their community service and exemplary role as a mother. The annual event raises funds to benefit uncompensated care for families and children seeking primary care assistance at Valle del Sol. This year’s honorees include Lisa Pacheco Geyser, co-founder of Families Give Back, Robin Milne, Executive Director of Phoenix Suns Charities, Judy Jolley Mohraz, Ph.D., President & CEO of the Virginia G. Piper Charitable Trust and Judy Schubert, retired non-profit/philanthropic leader.

Since 1970, Valle del Sol has helped thousands of men, women, children, families and the elderly meet their needs through primary health care, behavioral and mental health care, human services, and leadership development programs. The organization’s mission is to inspire positive change by investing in human services to strengthen families with tools and skills for self-sufficiency, in addition to building the next generation of Latino and diverse leaders.
