NEW ORLEANS –– Day One of NBA All-Star Weekend was jam-packed for Michael Carter-Williams, with the rookie point guard’s day starting early Friday morning with media availability and BBVA Compass Rising Stars practice and ending late that evening with a 19-point, nine-assists, and six-rebound performance in the ensuing game. Oh, and he built a playground in between. What a guy!

Saturday night, he’ll represent the Eastern Conference in the Taco Bell Skills Challenge alongside fellow rookie Victor Oladipo. You can catch his performance, and the rest of State Farm All-Star Saturday Night on TNT at 8:30pm (EST).

Earlier in the day, he signed autographs for fans at Jam Session.

The Other Greek Freak

His older brother, Thanasis, plays for the Sixers’ Development League affiliate, the Delaware 87ers, and will look to make that same jump in this year’s NBA draft. The elder Antetokounmpo is in New Orleans this weekend, too, and competed in Saturday's NBADL Boost Mobile Dream Factory Dunk ContestCompeting alongside Carter-Williams as part of the second Eastern Conference tandem in the Skills Challenge will be Bucks rookie Giannis Antetokounmpo. The Nigerian-Greek swingman burst on the scene late in last year’s draft process, going from relative unknown to top-15 pick in mere months.

Thansis was eliminated after the first round of the contest, but had one of the highlight moments of the event, jumping over Giannis.

“Well, he is in the dunk contest, and I’m not, so it means he is a better dunker than me,” he said with a smile.
