Utah Jazz Players Favors and Kanter Give Community Members a Chance to Attend a Game

Players to Donate Nearly 5,000 Tickets This Season Through “Favors’ Friends” and “Kanter’s Korner”

SALT LAKE CITY (December 30, 2013) – This season, Utah Jazz players Derrick Favors and Enes Kanter are providing an assist to Jazz fans. Each player has purchased 60 tickets to every home game throughout the 2013-14 season as part of the “Favors’ Friends” and “Kanter’s Korner” ticket programs. The tickets will be donated to a variety of community organizations, enabling nearly 5,000 fans to attend a game this season.

“I’m blessed to be in a position to give our fans an experience that they may not otherwise have,” said Favors. “I always wanted to go to an NBA game as a kid, and it would have meant the world to me to attend a game as a guest of an NBA player.”

“Providing game tickets to community groups is one small way for me to thank our amazing fans who have given us so much support,” said Kanter. “Giving someone an evening of fun and smiles can go a long way, and I’m happy to be able to do it.”

For consideration, representatives from interested charitable organizations may log on to www.utahjazz.com/playerticketdonations to submit an application. The Utah Jazz community relations department will contact all selected organizations directly to coordinate ticket distributions.

“It’s wonderful that Favors and Kanter are making it possible for thousands of Jazz fans to attend games this season,” said Randy Rigby, Utah Jazz president. “This display of generosity reflects the caliber of our players as well as the importance of community outreach within the Jazz organization.”

More than 1,600 fans of all ages have already attended games this season through “Favors’ Friends” and “Kanter’s Korner.” The groups hosted have included Boys & Girls Clubs, Neighborhood House, Utah Youth Village, Big Brothers Big Sisters, The Road Home and Colors of Success. Giving back is a Utah Jazz tradition, and this is just one way that Jazz players are working to make a difference in the lives of local residents.
