Utah Jazz and Mountain America Credit Union ‘Pass It Along’ to Ronald McDonald House
Program to Award $5,000 to Ronald McDonald House Charities of the Intermountain Area During Tonight’s Game
SALT LAKE CITY (January 27, 2014) – The Utah Jazz and Mountain America Credit Union today announced Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC) of the Intermountain Area as the second recipient of ‘Pass It Along,’ a new program featuring fan nomination opportunities that will award a total of $25,000 to five local charitable organizations. The program is part of Mountain America and the Utah Jazz’s shared commitment to community outreach.
In recognition of its significant and ongoing contributions to children and families, RMHC will be presented with a $5,000 donation during the Jazz home game on Monday, Jan. 27. Utah Jazz forward Derrick Favors and Mountain America Executive Vice President Marshall Paepke will help present the check to the organization.
“We are truly fortunate and sincerely grateful to have received this very generous donation from Mountain America Credit Union and the Utah Jazz. This gift will help the Ronald McDonald House give families the ability to face the weight of illness together, in close proximity to the treatment hospital,” said Carrie Romano, executive director of RMHC of the Intermountain Area. “The Ronald McDonald House is a HOME, not just a room, to these courageous families. Our mission is only possible with strong community support. Thank you for selecting us for the Pass It Along program.”
Since opening its doors in 1988, RMHC of the Intermountain Area has provided a “home-away-from-home” for more than 40,000 families with sick or injured children. Unfortunately, the need in recent years has surpassed the home’s capacity, forcing RMHC to turn away hundreds of families. In response, an extensive expansion project is underway and funds are still being raised to complete the 40,000 square foot space. More information about the project can be found online at www.ronaldmcdonaldhouseutah.org.
Jazz fans are being asked to help select the remaining three organizations via an online nomination process. By logging on to www.utahjazz.com/passitalong, fans may nominate the local charitable organization that they feel goes above and beyond to give back to the community. One winner will be announced each month for the remainder of the regular season. In addition to the $5,000 donation, each organization selected will receive a special visit from the Utah Jazz, tickets to an upcoming game and in-arena recognition.
