Paced by center Al Horford, the Atlanta Hawks are in the midst of their most successful road stretch in more than two years.

Coming off a career-high scoring night, Horford looks to help the Hawks to a sixth consecutive road victory Friday night against a Phoenix Suns team that just knocked off the NBA's leading club.

Horford scored 16 of his 34 points in the fourth quarter and also had 15 rebounds and five blocked shots to lead Atlanta (33-23) to its fourth straight victory Wednesday, 102-91 at Utah. The Hawks are 3-0 on a six-game trip, and they've averaged 106.3 points on 48.7 percent shooting while winning six of seven overall - including all five road contests in that span.

Horford has averaged 25.4 points on 68.1 percent shooting and 12.4 boards over those seven games.

"I'm in a good rhythm," said Horford, an All-Star in 2010 and 2011. "Most importantly, we're winning and we're playing well as a team."

Healthy after a pectoral injury limited him to 14 regular-season and playoff games in 2011-12, Horford is averaging career highs of 17.1 points and 10.1 rebounds. His performance in the final period Wednesday helped stymie Utah's attempt at overcoming a 20-point second-half deficit.

"He was good," Hawks coach Larry Drew said. "We were running plays through him. When the shot wasn't there, he was passing the ball. He got everything within our offense. Guys were doing a good job of finding him.

"He's really playing at a high level now - an extremely high level."

Horford, who did not face Phoenix last season, has averaged 20.3 points and 9.3 rebounds in his last four games against the Suns.

Atlanta, which is riding its longest win streak away from home since a six-game run in January 2011, snapped a four-game skid in this series with a 101-99 win at Phoenix last year.

Josh Smith had 30 points, 17 rebounds, seven assists, four steals and three blocks in that victory. He's averaged 25.3 points and 9.5 boards in the last four at Phoenix and he has 47 points in the Hawks' last two contests overall.

Though the Suns (20-39) are tied for last place in the Western Conference, they'll try for a third consecutive victory after ending San Antonio's 18-game home winning streak with a 105-101 overtime win Wednesday.

Jermaine O'Neal had 22 points and 13 rebounds and Goran Dragic scored 13 with 13 assists as Phoenix overcame an 11-point fourth-quarter deficit to stun the team with the NBA's best record and win its second straight game in overtime.

"For us, we're obviously not in the playoff run, but it's about trying to be a better team," said the 34-year-old O'Neal, who posted his second straight double-double and fourth in seven contests. "Games like these are what build character and put us in the right direction. That's what we're trying to do."

Phoenix last won three in a row during its season-high four-game run Dec. 12-19.

Dragic is averaging 14.1 points, 6.9 assists, 1.5 steals and 3.9 free-throw attempts per game, joining LeBron James as the only players to lead their teams in all of those categories. The Suns point guard has posted five of his nine double-doubles this season in his last six games.

Suns win 3rd straight, snap Hawks' 4-game streak

PHOENIX (AP) Playing alongside that guy who looks just like him is making it easy for Marcus Morris to fit in with the Phoenix Suns in a hurry.

He matched his career high with four 3-pointers, in five attempts, and scored 16 points in his fifth game with Phoenix, helping the Suns win their third in a row with a 92-87 victory over the Atlanta Hawks on Friday night.

Identical twin brother Markieff Morris added 11 points as Phoenix snapped Atlanta's four-game winning streak. Wesley Johnson scored 13 of his 15 points in the third quarter for the Suns.

Marcus Morris, who came to Phoenix in a trade-deadline deal with Houston, played the entire fourth quarter, an example of how important to the team he has already become.

"It's self-explanatory. Y'all know," he said afterward. "Playing with my brother, man, it brings the best out of both of us. The toughness, I just feel comfortable with him on the court. As you can tell, I know none of the plays and he's telling me the plays while it's happening. Just the connection, it's there for me."

The win came two nights after the Suns stunned the Spurs in San Antonio.

Phoenix interim coach Lindsey Hunter said that Marcus Morris still has a lot to learn about the Suns' system, "but they were outstanding."

"They played really well, played really hard," Hunter said. "I thought defensively they were good."

Goran Dragic had 19 points for Phoenix before leaving with a lower back bruise with 4:44 left in the third quarter. The Suns don't play for four days and Dragic said he thought he'd be fine by then.

Al Horford scored 20 and Kyle Korver 17 for Atlanta on the fourth stop of a six-game road trip. Josh Smith managed just five points on 2-of-11 shooting and committed five turnovers but had 10 rebounds.

"It's a tough game to swallow," Atlanta coach Larry Drew said. "After playing so well in our first three games of this road trip, as good as the first three were, we were just as bad tonight. We did not play well from start to finish."

Jared Dudley got into a heated argument with Suns teammate Luis Scola entering a timeout in the third quarter, then snapped at Hunter in the huddle and had to be calmed down by assistant coaches. Dudley was benched and did not return.

Phoenix took the lead for good with a 14-1 run at the end of the first half and start of the second.

The Suns scored the last eight points of the first half, the final six on a pair of 3-pointers from the corner by Marcus Morris, to lead 44-39 at halftime.

Dragic scored 10 in the first quarter and 14 in the half.

Phoenix maintained the lead throughout the third quarter and was up 63-54 after Johnson's 22-footer with 4:12 left. A 7-2 Hawks spurt cut it to 65-61 on Korver's free throw after Markieff Morris was called for a technical. But the Suns scored the final seven of the quarter to lead 72-61 entering the fourth.

Johnson, who shot 5 for 5 in the third quarter, sank a 3 during the run. But the highlight came after an Atlanta turnover when Marcus Morris soared in for a dunk but was knocked hard to the floor by Jeff Teague, who was called for a flagrant foul. Marcus Morris made both free throws with 35.7 seconds to go in the period to make it an 11-point lead after three.

Anthony Tolliver sank a pair of 3s, then John Jenkins made one of two free throws to cut the Suns' lead to 74-68 with 10:24 left. But the Morris twins, first Marcus, then Markieff, scored and Phoenix led 78-68 with 7:57 left.

Atlanta scored the next five points, slicing the lead to 78-73 on Korver's 3-pointer with 7:25 to go. But Jermaine O'Neal scored on a drive and Marcus Morris sank a 3 to boost the lead back to 83-73 with 6:43 to go.

The closest it got after that was the final margin, when Horford sank a 3 at the buzzer.

"We just didn't focus for whatever reason," Korver said. "We wanted things kind of easy. When you do that in the NBA you are going to get beat. Hopefully we learned something tonight."

NOTES: Atlanta, which had won five straight road games, plays the Lakers in Los Angeles on Sunday. ... Phoenix pulled out of a tie for last in the Western Conference. ... Hawks F DeShawn Stevenson dislocated the middle finger on his left hand in the first minute of the game. But he went to the locker room for X-rays and was back in the game 3 minutes into the second quarter. ... Suns Ring of Honor member and Sacramento Mayor Kevin Johnson, fighting to keep the Kings in his city, was in the crowd and got a big ovation when introduced on the big screen.

THE FACTS: There must have been a reason why Wesley Johnson was drafted so high in 2010. Johnson, considered a draft bust the past few years after he went No. 4 overall, suddenly has awoken. On Friday night, he helped lead the lowly Phoenix Suns to a home win over the Atlanta Hawks, 92-87.

The win was the third straight for the Suns (21-39), and Johnson has played a key role in all of them. Against the Hawks, Johnson's sharp shooting helped the Suns open a lead in the third quarter, then he blocked a Kyle Korver 3-point try to help seal the win. Johnson had a season-high 15 points.

The Suns also got a big game from Jermaine O'Neal, who helped slow the sizzling Al Horford (also guarded by Marcin Gortat) while putting up 12 points and five boards. Horford, who had averaged 26.0 points and 13.0 rebounds the previous five games, had 20 and seven rebounds, But he had only nine points through three quarters, when the game mostly was decided.

The Hawks (33-24), who have struggled against the Suns over the years, had their 4-game winning streak broken. The Suns also got a big lift from rookie guard Kendall Marshall, who took over for Goran Dragic when he left after he appeared to have been sent sprawling to the floor by Jeff Teague on a drive to the hoop in the third quarter. Teague drew a technical. But Dragic confided after the game that he didn't think he was fouled, saying, "I went too fast." Dragic led the Suns with 19 points in just 29 minutes. He suffered a back bruise, but because the Suns don't play until Wednesday, he doesn't think he'll miss time.

Marshall, also considered a draft disappointment after he went No. 13 overall last year, played the rest of the way and handled the point with few problems.

The Morris twins also had their best game together so far. They combined for 27 points with Marcus Morris hitting 5-for-8, including 4-for-5 on 3-pointers for 16 points. Markieff Morris shot 4-for-11 for 11 points plus six rebounds.

Outside of Horford, the Hawks got 17 points from Korver but only five points and 10 boards, from their other hot player, Josh Smith.

The Hawks DeShawn Stevenson, who started as part of a three-forward lineup, dislocated his finger at the start of the game but managed to return.

QUOTABLE: "Wes Johnson is coming along really well. "And Jermaine was great. We're finding guys who want to play the right way and get out and compete."

THE STAT: The Suns bench, not exactly a strength much of this season, outscored the Hawks' reserves 58-34.

TURNING POINT: When Johnson entered the game with game with 8:34 left in the third quarter and the Suns leading 50-45, he proceeded to shoot 5-for-5 in the quarter, including 3-for-3 on 3-pointers for 13 points. The Suns led 72-61 by quarter's end.

QUOTABLE II: "I was definitely frustrated with it."

HOT: The Suns hit 10-for-22 on 3-pointers.

NOT: The Suns' Michael Beasley had zero points and zero rebounds while playing just 7:45.

FANTASY SPOTLIGHT: Horford has now scored 20-plus in eight straight for the first time in his career (to get there, he nailed a 3-pointer in the final seconds). "He gets better and better every year," said Hunter. "He can do a lot," said Drew, "He's been getting open, and he's getting shots in rhythm. I've always said he is one of the better pick-and-pop big men in our league."

ROOKIE WATCH: John Jenkins had one point and two rebounds in nearly 10 minutes for the Hawks.

NOTABLE: The Suns are winning games while losing lottery balls. They have won three straight, are 4-3 since the All Star break and now are 8-11 under Hunter. They hadn't won even two in a row since December, when they won four straight. In between these two streaks, they'd gone 7-24.
