Founded during the 1990-91 season, the Boston Celtics Stay in School program presented by the Arbella Insurance Foundation is the longest running community initiative in American professional sports.
Partnering with the Boston Public Schools, the program recognizes middle school students for perfect attendance. In addition to receiving Celtics gear, students can earn invitations to special assemblies with Celtics players throughout the course of the school year for maintaining an unblemished attendance record.
The program year culminates in a large-scale carnival celebration where over 1,000 students are recognized for their achievement.
Writing and Art Contest
The Boston Celtics, in partnership with the Arbella Insurance Foundation, are celebrating the 25th year of the Stay in School Program. Annually we offer middle school students from the city of Boston an opportunity to showcase their talent by entering our writing and art contests. This year, in addition to those in Boston, we want to offer this opportunity to you!
If your school is within a 150 mile radius of the TD Garden, you’re eligible for entry. Twenty-five middle school students will be selected as winners from both the writing and art category and offered a chance to attend our end of year celebration where they’ll be recognized for their work.
There will be twenty-five prize winners selected from among all valid written entries, and twenty-five winners selected from among all valid artistic entries. A selection committee consisting of employees of the Boston Celtics and Arbella Insurance Group will select winners that best describe or convey what the word “Pride” or the word(s) “Perseverance”, “Respect”, “Integrity”, “Decisions”, and/or “Education” (PRIDE) means to the entrant. Each winner will receive two invitations to an end-of-year celebration on June 9, 2016 at the Reggie Lewis Track and Athletic Center.
